Search Tips
Choose Your Options
Use only the search options that you need--leave the others blank.
Words in Trademark
You can find out if there are marks matching a whole word (book) or a whole phrase (mr peanut), words starting with a specific word (note, notebook, notepad, notepaper, etc.), words ending with a specific word (book, notebook, powerbook, schoolbook, etc.), or words containing a string of letters anywhere in the mark (book, notebook, bookmark, notebookmark, etc.).
Trademarks consisting of corrupted spellings (e.g, WEB-TITE), unconventional presentations of words or compound words (e.g., ACTIVEXPRESS), non-Latin characters, or non-English language words are also searchable by variant forms of the words within the mark.
For example, ACTIVEXPRESS is also searchable by the words ACTIVE and EXPRESS; the mark WEB-TITE can be searched with the hyphen removed as WEBTITE as well as by the correct spellings of words within the mark, e.g., WEB and TIGHT.
Note: to search the exact mark including the hyphen or other punctuation (WEB-TITE) use the Exact Trademark search option.
Exact Trademark
You can search a complete trademark name, but you must enter it with its exact punctuation. Example: IT'S A BOY'S LIFE
International Class
You can choose one of the broad classes to focus your search.
Goods and Services
Enter words that describe the goods, services, or products that are associated with the mark. For different word endings, use the ? wildcard:
COMPUTER? Combine words to get specific information. Example: (COMPUTER? OR SOFTWARE) AND PORTABLE.
Owner
Owners include both historical and current owners: assignee, assignor, renewal owner, republished owner, and last reported owner. Enter the company or individual's name, leaving out words like Corp., Inc., etc.
Registration Number
Enter the number with all punctuation and spaces. It is not necessary to include a country code. Example: 345,000
Content
You can restrict the search to trademarks containing designs (and graphical images when available) or stylized letters. Sound marks can be searched as word marks.
Status and Year
You can search any marks or restrict to "active" marks (includes pending or registered) or "inactive" marks (includes abandoned, cancelled or expired) with or without specifying years.
