Search Tips
Choose Your Options
Use only the search options that you need--leave the others blank.
Main Subject
Enter words that describe the subject of the patent--the words are searched in the case title and patent class title. For different word endings, use the ? wildcard: SUPERCONDUCT? Combine words to get specific information. Example: SUPERCONDUCT? AND (INSULATION OR THERMAL SHOCK)
Company
Enter the name of the patent assignee, plaintiff or defendant. For example, SILICON GRAPHICS. Do NOT include words like Corp., Inc., etc.
Inventor
Enter the last name and the first initial. Use a wildcard after the first initial for more complete search results. Example: MOORE T?
Patent Number
Enter the two-letter country code followed by a space and the number just as it appears in the patent or citation, with all punctuation. For example, patent number US 5,251,234.
Court State
Enter the name of the state to search all district courts in that state. You can enter either the state name (ALABAMA) or its postal abbreviation (AL). To search multiple states, use OR. For example: NY OR NJ OR PA.
Patent or Litigation Filing Year
Leave this blank unless you need to focus the search by year. For fastest processing, use the smallest year range you need.
